Carnevale Feb. 20-21 and cancelled classes

Just a note about the Lido--it's not a very long ride to reach Venice with the main waterbuses, but I'm not sure when they stop running. I think you'll probably want to book somewhere on one of the main islands. On the hostelworld website they have a link that shows where each hostel/hotel is on a map, so you should be able to tell if they're on one of the main islands. Take a peek in a Lonely Planet guidebook's map or something if you want to get an idea of what they're like and where all the attractions are.

I'm still in for the first original weekend too. I forget whose room I"m in (i believe hailey). I'm unsure about the second trip- but really stoked that we don't have classes. My boyfriend is coming to visit because its reading week back in Canada so I have to consult him to see what he wants to do.

I'm totally in for both weekends. I will try to do some research about hostels but if someone books one, count me in. For Carnevale I would rather stay on the main island. But ya good luck on all your exams!

I would like to stay on the island too and I like the looks of the Locanda SS. Giovanni hostel. Its 55 Euro for a 4 bed ensuit and I really think it would be worth it. It says its right by St. Mark's Square which I'm guessing is Piazza San Marco (someone might want to check that) which would put us in a great spot for Carnavale. Let me know and I will book a room.
Oh, and we'll also need a forth if anyone is interested.

Piazza San Marco is St. Mark's Square, and I think that it's 55 euros each for a 4 bed ensuite room at the place you mentioned. There's 6 of us staying at the San Lio Tourist House and they're now showing availability for 4 bed ensuite rooms again at 30 euros apiece (which is annoying since I could only book 1 4-bed room when I made our initial booking!) Anyways, it's well located, so hopefully you can join us.

David, when I looked at the San Lio Tourist House it said it was 60 Euro and that was why I was looking for something else. I'm fine with booking at either hostel so I guess it depends on where everyone else would like to stay.

Gabriella, if you still want to book at the first hostel then I'm fine with that, otherwise I can make arrangements at the San Lio. Anyone else need a room?

Jessica - I just looked at the website for the San Lio hostel and it appears to have availability after all. It`s not as pretty as the other hostel, but it`s in the same area (St.Mark`s Square), has the same % rating, and is half the price. I will book here with you if you are able to get a room....

I still have a few more days until exams are done so I'm still not able to focus too much on this stuff but if somebody is filling a room for the mid-week Carnivale trip I'll gladly take a spot in whatever you have. Cheaper is better of course, but I don't suppose we can be too picky. I've got a spot for the initial weekend but I don't believe I'm in anyone's room for the second trip. Please correct me if I'm mistaken.

The Locada hostel is very pretty as well. It doesn't really matter to me. Cheaper seems to be better for people.

Well I`m already hatching a plan of how I`m going to afford all these trips anyhow - by eating as much as I can at the two meals a day that are included in our accomodation, and buying cheap cheap food at the store for snacks, no dining out for me! Hehe, something tells me this may be a hungry couple of months for me silent

Anyhow, whatever you guys decide is ok by me, my credit card is shamefully maxed out right now so I can`t book anything, but count me in if someone else is booking another room Cool

I just book a room at the Locanda SS.Giovanni e Paolo for me, Hailey, and Gabriella. Its 55 Euro each a night and if that's fine with you Merin then you can be our forth. Otherwise, I still have a spot. Also, our hostel has three more 4 bed suits if anyone else needs to book a room for Carnevale.

Stephy, I too am despairing about the amount of money I need and the actual amount I will have. The two numbers don't seem to add up, I may be spenging more time in Cortona on the weekends after all, which is not a bad thing. The nice thing I like is the fact that my transportation for the field trips and the 5 weekends of extra time is already paid for with the rail pass. I suppose I just need to worry about food and accomodation. I too will not be eating out much, and I will be starving and buying cheap food too! Oh well, here's my chance to be frugle!
